CREAMY DHAL

A rich and creamy daal, extremely tasty and rich in protein and nutrients.

Ingredients (2 servings)

  • 1 tbsp Coconut Oil

  • 1 white Onion, diced

  • 3 Cloves of garlic 

  • 1 tsp of fresh grated Ginger 

  • 1 cup Red Lentils 

  • 400 mls of Coconut Milk 

  • 400 mls of Water 

  • 1 tsp of Turmeric 

  • 1 tsp of Cumin 

  • 1 tsp of Curry Powder 

  • Chili Flakes

  • ¼ tsp Sea Salt 

  • Fresh ground Black Pepper â€‹

Preparation

  1. Heat the oil over medium heat in a large pot on the stove. 

  2. Add diced onion and garlic and sauté for 5 minutes, or until soft. 

  3. Stir in grated ginger, red lentils, coconut milk, water, spices, sea salt, and a few grinds of black pepper. 

  4. Bring mixture to a boil, cover, reduce heat to a simmer and cook for 15-25 minutes, stirring every so often. 

  5. The daal is done when lentils have expanded and thickened and daal is creamy. 

  6. Serve the daal with rice or homemade chapatis.
