INDIAN HEAD MASSAGE

What are the benefits?
-
Indian head massage is especially good for relieving stress, restlessness, tension, fatigue, insomnia, headaches, migraine and sinusitis.

-
Clients report that the experience is deeply calming and relaxing, leaving them feeling energised and revitalised and better able to concentrate.

-
Massaging the head encourages the supply of oxygen to the brain which is one of the best ways of reducing anxiety and of lifting the mood. Oxygen helps us think clearly and creatively and a similar effect is found during and after exercise. It can help renewing energy levels, as working on the chakras through Indian Massage has a powerful effect in bringing the energy of the body back into balance.

-
We often have short-term memory difficulties because our brains are overloaded with disorganised thoughts, making it very difficult for us to efficiently collect thoughts and occurrences and this therapy can help with this by boosting our memory capabilities.

-
Indian head massage helps increase the joint mobility and flexibility in the neck and shoulders, improves blood circulation and lymphatic drainage, frees knots of muscular tension, and aids in the elimination of accumulated toxins and waste products hence helps detoxifying the body.

-
Another lovely side effect of the Indian Head Massage is that it promotes hair growth. The massage increases nourishment and oxygen to the scalp and hair follicle which in turns stimulates hair growth.
What to expect during a treatment?

A brief consultation about your medical history and lifestyle will be performed in order to gather enough information to build up a picture and adapt the treatment to your requirements.
Indian Head Massage does not necessarily require the use of oils. However some oils may enhance the treatment, as performed traditionally. I may use a natural oil such as Grapeseed in case you’d be willing to receive a massage with an oil on your head and face.

It is an easy treatment to offer in the way that you just need to sit comfortably, fully dressed, in a chair (a low-back and without-arms chair preferably). Mobile phones should be preferably on sound off mode and a soft music will be played to enhance your relaxation. I will uses a range of different movements including application of effleurage, kneading, friction and compression movements over the shoulders, neck and scalp areas. In addition, I will also gently stimulate and stroke acupressure points on the face. The massage will usually last about 30 minutes.
Within 24-48 hours after the treatment, you will typically feel very relaxed but you could also experience reactions such as: tiredness, heightened emotions, thirst, increased micturition, feeling hot/cold, increase in your symptoms. Do not worry, this is part of a ‘healing crisis’ as your body is re-balancing itself, so just put your mind at rest and drink plenty of water to help with this clearing process.
